A significant update has emerged regarding Tottenham’s pursuit of Mathys Tel, with a report explaining why the Lilywhites may have an upper hand over other suitors in the transfer race.
Tottenham pushing ahead with a late move for Mathys Tel
It appears that Spurs are making advances towards Mathys Tel in the final few days of the transfer market, with the Bayern Munich winger seemingly in the shop window.
A number of sources over the past 24 hours have credited Tottenham with an interest in Mathys Tel, who, although a winger by trade, can also operate as a striker.
However, it has been reported that Spurs face competition from the likes of Manchester United for the teenager, with Paul O Keefe even asserting on Wednesday that Tel prefers a move to Old Trafford.

The Telegraph have now become the latest publication to report that the North Londoners ‘are now ready to make a move’ for the France Under-21 international.
They explain that Ange Postecoglou wants to add another forward to their squad in light of the recent injuries to Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner, with Tel being identified as a good fit.
This update also warns that Spurs are now battling several other clubs across the Premier League and Europe for the pacy wide-man.
However, they point out that the Lilywhites enjoy a good relationship with Bayern after agreeing deals for Harry Kane and Eric Dier over the last 18 months.
It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy and co can use this relationship to their advantage to push through a late deal for Tel.
Is Tel an alternative to Tyler Dibling?
It is interesting to consider how Spurs’ pursuit of Tel may impact their rumoured interest in Southampton starlet Tyler Dibling.
One would be surprised if Levy sanctions moves for both forwards in the final days of the window, with Tottenham likely to pursue one of the two.
Out of the two, Tel might be a more useful addition to the squad for Postecoglou as the Frenchman can play across the front three, thus giving the Spurs boss a lot more options upfront.
