Postecoglou sends ‘successful season’ message to angry Spurs fans
Ange Postecoglou has sent a message to the angry Tottenham supporters, insisting that there is still all to play for over the coming months.
The anger of Spurs fans is spilling over
Both on social media and in the stadium over recent weeks, the anger and the frustration of the Tottenham supporters has been palpable. The fans are clearly extremely concerned about the situation in N17 at the moment.
While most of that anger has been directed at Daniel Levy and the ownership, Postecoglou has not been spared from criticism as the Australian struggles to arrest the team’s slide.
There continues to be speculation over how long the 59-year-old will last in the Spurs hot seat, but the Tottenham boss is continuing to be defiant.
Ange Postecoglou sends message to Spurs fans
Postecoglou has now assured the supporters that everyone at Hotspur Way is working hard to turn things around.
The Spurs head coach insisted that there are still big ‘opportunities’ over the coming months to make this season a successful one for the club, despite the way things look at the moment.
Postecoglou said (via Alasdair Gold): “My message would be to all Spurs fans because I represent them all not just the angry ones that you are referring to or maybe talking to. All Spurs fans. We are working hard to turn this around.
“Obviously we know the situation, notwithstanding the fact the possibilities and opportunities in the second half of this season are still very much in our hands to capitalise on and still make it a successful season.”
Cup competitions are Postecoglou’s only saving grace
The fact that Tottenham are going strong in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and the Europa League is the only reason that Postecoglou is still in his job.
One does fear for the Aussie coach’s future if Spurs were to be knocked out of the Carabao Cup in the second leg of their semifinal at Anfield next week.
With Tottenham looking certain to finish outside the top six, Postecoglou will know that he has to deliver a trophy for this to be considered a successful season.
