Tottenham consider AC Milan forward as a Mathys Tel alternative
Tottenham Hotspur are determined to sign a forward before the end of the January transfer window and journalists have revealed the latest player rumoured to have caught the club’s attention.
Tottenham have been linked with forwards throughout the transfer window
Despite spending a club record £65m on Dominic Solanke last summer, Tottenham are seeking to add a striker to their ranks. With Solanke injured and Richarlison only recently returning from the sidelines, a new forward is viewed as a priority.
Tottenham had hoped to complete a deal to sign Randal Kolo Muani from PSG, but Juventus beat them to his signature. More recently, Monaco striker Breel Embolo has been linked with Spurs, while reports have also claimed they have been monitoring Brighton’s Evan Fergurson.
Spurs have also been in ‘direct talks’ with the management team of Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel. The North Londoners are said to be one of seven clubs interested in the teenage sensation.
Tottenham have discussed signing Noah Okafor
Tel in particular will not be an easy player to sign due to competition from rival clubs. However, according to Matteo Moretto, Tottenham have an alternative option lined up in AC Milan’s Noah Okafor.
Fabrizio Romano has also said Tottenham are interested in Okafor, who is due to leave the Serie A side.
Whether it is Okafor, Tel, or another forward, Spurs are expected to add an attacking player to their first-team squad. Romano has said that Tottenham will ‘surely’ bring in one more striker before the January transfer window concludes.
How has Noah Okafor been performing?
Following the theme of a number of players Spurs have been linked with, Okafor is able to play as either a winger or a centre-forward.
Although he only joined AC Milan, he appears to be out of favour, as he has only made 11 league appearances this season. However, he has recently been kept out by a tear in his calf muscle.
Okafor has one goal and two assists in all competitions, from 16 appearances. Last season he scored six times for his side. While these are not particularly impressive statistics, any signing would be helpful to Ange Postecoglou, as Spurs look to find some form.
