Chelsea and Tottenham are in a late race to sign Eli Junior Kroupi
As the transfer window edges closer to its conclusion, Chelsea and Tottenham find themselves in a high-stakes battle for the signature of French wonderkid Eli Junior Kroupi.
Tottenham’s striker search takes a new twist
Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a reliable striker has been a persistent theme throughout this transfer window, and with injuries plaguing their attacking line-up, the urgency has only intensified.
Dominic Solanke’s untimely injury and Richarlison’s ongoing groin issues have left manager Ange Postecoglou with limited options as he navigates his second season in charge of Spurs.
Despite being linked with high-profile names over the past month, Tottenham have yet to secure a deal to address their needs upfront.
Their hesitation has led to speculation about alternative targets, including a surprise move for Lorient’s 19-year-old sensation, Eli Junior Kroupi.
Chelsea and Tottenham ready to battle for Eli Junior Kroupi
According to Football Insider, Chelsea and Spurs have now emerged as the front-runners in the pursuit of Eli Junior Kroupi.
Both clubs are said to be plotting late moves for the highly-rated Lorient forward as they look to add firepower to their squads before the window slams shut.
The Premier League giants are reportedly drawn to Kroupi’s immense potential, with the Frenchman quickly establishing himself as one of Ligue 2’s brightest talents this season.
However, their pursuit is far from straightforward. European powerhouses, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, and RB Leipzig, have also expressed interest in the teenage forward, further complicating matters for Spurs.
Kroupi’s impressive form and price
Eli Junior Kroupi has been a revelation in Ligue 2 this season, delivering standout performances that have not only put him on the radar of top European clubs but also made him a key figure in Lorient’s campaign.
The 18-year-old has netted nine goals and provided two assists in just 18 league appearances. Over the course of his fledgling career, Kroupi has recorded 14 goals and five assists across 50 senior appearances for Lorient, a testament to his consistency and potential.
The French side remains keen to retain the services of their academy graduate, however, they value the teenager whose contract runs into its final 18 months, at around £30 million.
