The Telegraph have now revealed that Spurs are still waiting to find out the full extent of Dragusin’s injury, with no definitive time frame put on his absence yet.

However, it is explained that the fear at Hotspur Way at the moment is that the 22-year-old could miss the majority of the remainder of the season.

With concerns that they could be without Dragusin for several months, the club have reportedly made signing a new defender a priority in the final hours of the transfer window.

The report suggests that it is the former Genoa man’s injury that has convinced Spurs to consider an approach for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.

Tottenham desperately need another centre-back

Given this Dragusin development and the injury records of Van de Ven and Romero, Spurs are risking leaving themselves extremely short at the back if they do not bring another centre-back through the door.

With Postecoglou’s system needing a very specific kind of centre-half, who is quick, good at defending one-v-one, and useful in possession, it is going to be very challenging for the club to secure the right kind of player before the window slams shut.
