Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly failed with a bid for a Valencia youngster, with the La Liga club asking the Lilywhites to increase their offer if they wish to sign the teenager.
A flurry of late transfer activity from Spurs
After failing to sign a single outfield player throughout the month of January, Tottenham appear determined to end the transfer window strongly.
The club have wrapped up a deal to sign Kevin Danso from Lens and they are also thought to be pursuing a late deal for Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi.
However, the question on every Spurs fan’s mind is which attacker the club will make an approach for after being turned down by Mathys Tel, and it turns out that Ange Postecoglou‘s men have now pressed ahead with a move for a Spanish starlet.
Tottenham offer for David Otorbi rejected by Valencia
This update comes from Tribuna Deportiva journalist, Salva Gomis, who reveals that Tottenham have expressed an interest in signing Valencia’s David Otorbi.
The 17-year-old winger has been impressing in youth football and made his senior debut in the home loss to Barcelona back in August of last year, which remains his only first-team appearance to date.
According to Gomis, both Tottenham and Aston Villa are keen on winning the race for Otobri, but the Lilywhites’ offer of €4m (£3.3m) has been turned down by Valencia.
How much do Valencia want for David Otorbi?
The journalist explains that Valencia’s Singaporean billionaire owner Peter Lim is willing to cash in on the Spain Under-18 international, but only if his demands are met.
Lim is said to be asking for an initial fee of €5m (£4.1m) as well as an inclusion of a sell-on clause in order to part ways with Otorbi.
Gomis does not say if Spurs are expected to return with another offer, but he suggests that Villa are now ‘preparing an offensive’ for the winger before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
