Tottenham have bid rejected for player Newcastle previously offered £65m for last summer
Tottenham Hotspur’s search for defensive reinforcement continues well into deadline day as they have a bid rejected for Marc Guehi.
Tottenham still on the hunt for a centre-back despite Kevin Danso signing
Just yesterday, Tottenham Hotspur secured the signing of Kevin Danso from RC Lens. This marked their first outfield signing of the transfer window and, in typical Spurs fashion, it came a day before the shut of the window.
The arrival of the Austrian international has not stopped Tottenham from searching for more defensive reinforcements.
With the deadline fast approaching and defensive reinforcements still a priority, Tottenham have turned their attention elsewhere.
Newcastle were heavily linked with a move for Guehi last summer but failed with multiple bids in the region of his £65m asking price (Sky Sports).
Tottenham Hotspur’s deadline day bid for Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace
According to Fabrizio Romano, Ange Postecoglou’s side has made a late push for Marc Guehi, with Tottenham Hotspur submitting an offer for the Crystal Palace defender in the final 48 hours of the window.
Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Tottenham had made their move for the England international, but the Eagles stood firm in their stance.
The journalist tweeted: “Spurs also made a late bid for Marc Guehi in last 48h as top target but Palace rejected, will now run to summer; out of contract in June 2026.”
Tottenham Hotspur face another transfer setback with time running out
Rejections have been a recurring theme for Tottenham Hotspur this transfer window, with multiple targets refusing moves to North London.
Ange Postecoglou has been keen to strengthen his squad, but Spurs have faced challenges in convincing their preferred signings to join, and with just a few hours left before the window slams shut, their chances of securing another addition are diminishing rapidly.
With Guehi under contract until 2026, Crystal Palace are under no pressure to sell, and with the limited time left in the window, they are unwilling to entertain Tottenham’s offer. Spurs’ search for a centre-back still continues.
