David Ornstein has revealed the interesting information he has heard from his sources on Harry Kane’s future after reports of his low release clause at Bayern Munich emerged earlier this week.

Kane continues to break all sorts of scoring records in Germany and looks on course to fire Bayern to the Bundesliga title, which will be the striker’s first major trophy of his career.

Out of nowhere, it emerged last week that there is a clause in Kane’s contract with the Bundesliga giants which would allow him to leave the club for a relatively modest fee.

This information came from Bild, who claimed that if the 31-year-old decided to leave the Allianz Arena next summer, he can do so for just £54m.

David Ornstein reveals what he has heard about Kane’s future

The news of Kane‘s clause will undoubtedly capture the attention of a few Premier League sides, many of whom are in need of a top-class number nine, which is not easy to find in the current market.

However, any move would depend on Kane giving the green light to the transfer, which appears unlikely, given how well things are going for the former Tottenham man in Munich.

Ornstein revealed that the England captain is happy at Bayern, but rather interestingly, the journalist asserted that his sources would not be massively surprised if he did leave in the summer.

When asked about the possibility of Kane returning to the Premier League in the summer, The Athletic reported on the Sky Sports Back Pages Podcast: “I don’t think likely, because as Charlotte says there, he’s very happy, Harry Kane, as far as we know. And it looks like he’s on course to win his first major trophy with the Bundesliga title this season.

“Speaking to people around football, I don’t think they would be massively surprised if he left next summer or the summer after maybe 2026. It’s been a brilliant experiment so far.

“And I think there was always a bit of an assumption that he might come back and had some unfinished business with the Shearers goal scoring record. And Manchester United have been linked with him in the past.

“Chelsea have been linked with him. And obviously, Spurs have first refusal if all parties wanted that. So I think this could be a situation that does develop in the next year or two.”

Harry Kane might return to England in 2026

It is difficult to imagine Kane finishing his career in Germany and one would expect him to return to England to have a go at Shearer’s record, although the likelihood is that Erling Haaland will eventually clinch it anyway.

If the striker wins a number of trophies this season and the next at Bayern, Spurs fans might be hoping that he is tempted to return to his boyhood club to take care of unfinished business by leading the side to silverware.
