Tottenham Hotspur loanee Will Lankshear made his debut for West Bromwich Albion this week and the reviews that followed show promising signs.
Will Lankshear’s Championship debut will please Tottenham
Tottenham Hotspur have a fair few players out on loan away from the first team this season. Amongst those who are set to spend the next six months elsewhere, is Will Lankshear, who joined Championship side West Bromwich Albion before the winter deadline day.
Before going out on loan, the young forward made a few appearances for Spurs and even scored on his full first-team debut for the club in a Europa League clash against Galatasaray.
His new manager, Tony Mowbray has been impressed with his new signing and even called him a “Premier League quality striker.”
Will Lankshear gets a positive review after West Bromwich Albion
With his move sealed, the young forward made his first start for his new club in their 2-1 home win against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Despite not finding the back of the net, Lankshear still impressed in his 23 minute cameo from the bench.
The 19-year-old earned plenty of praise on his debut performance and was handed a seven rating by Express and Star, who stated, “A really encouraging debut from the Tottenham loan teenager. Looks a proper physical unit and knows how to handle himself. Involved in opener.”
West Bromwich Albion fans loved Lankshear’s debut
Will Lankshear did not just receive plaudits from pundits, West Brom fans were also pleased with the performance of their new signing. Many fans are even relishing the prospect of seeing him being deployed in a front two this season.
His manager has not held back praise, he stated: “Lankshear is here as well, I have to say he looks pretty pure in his finishing, his ball contact, the way he puts the ball in the net looks pretty clean to me.
“The options at the top end of the pitch look really good. The coaching staff and myself have to find the right balance for what team we play on any given day.”
