A fresh update has now emerged on the recovery of Micky van de Ven, explaining why Ange Postecoglou is not likely to include the Dutch defender in his squad against Manchester United on Sunday.
Micky van de Ven’s injury problems have ruined his season
The way Tottenham have managed Micky van de Ven‘s recovery from his latest hamstring problem has been very interesting to say the least and an increasing under of Spurs fans are understandably starting to get worried about the Dutchman’s lengthy layoff.
He returned from an earlier injury to face Chelsea at the start of December, only to pick up a fresh hamstring issue, which put him out of action for almost two months.
The 23-year-old made a return in the 3-0 Europa League win against Elfsborg two weeks ago, where he was taken off at half-time, and he has subsequently missed the matches against Brentford, Liverpool, and Aston Villa.
Ange Postecoglou has continued to insist that Vvn de Ven has not suffered a fresh injury and Spurs are just being careful with the centre-back, but the latest update on the player will do nothing to ease the concerns of the supporters.

Van de Ven is not expected to be available for Man Utd clash
The Daily Mail have now claimed that van de Ven is set to miss this Sunday’s clash against the Red Devils due to ongoing concerns about his hamstring issues.
The report states that the former Wolfsburg man’s ‘absence is set to continue’ for the time being as the club are opting to take a ‘cautious approach’ with the defender.
It is asserted that Tottenham are hesitant to take any risks with the centre-back, given his history of hamstring issues.
Will van de Ven’s hamstrings prove a perennial problem?
It can clearly be understood why the coaching staff are hesitant to throw van de Ven back into the intensity of Premier League football, given the abysmal injury record he has.
Unfortunately, it is starting to seem like this will be a perennial issue that the defender will have to manage throughout his career – or they need to bite the bullet and undergo hamstring surgery.
I would hope that the recurring problems do not prevent the Netherlands international from reaching his full potential as a player as it did for a certain former Spurs centre-back.
