Tottenham hierarchy feel one big first-team contract decision has been vindicated
Tottenham hierarchy feel that one of their key men’s poor run of form of late has justified the big decision that they took a few months ago.
Tottenham supporters have been waiting for several months for Heung-min Son to rediscover form in front of goal and roar back into life like he has done countless times over the course of his decade-long stay at Spurs.
However, the 32-year-old has continued to struggle to find his feet. Some reports over recent days have claimed that Spurs insiders are of the opinion that Son will no longer get into Ange Postecoglou’s starting XI when everyone is fit.
As a result, there are said to be fears over the Tottenham captain’s future at the club beyond the end of the season.
During the January transfer window, Tottenham signed Mathys Tel on a loan deal from Bayern Munich to bolster their attacking options with the Frenchman able to play across the front three.
Tottenham feel they were right to exit Heung-min Son talks
Some eyebrows were raised a few months ago when Tottenham chose to activate the one-year extension in Son’s contract, taking his deal to the summer of 2026, rather than handing the forward a new long-term contract.
However, TBR Football claim that the North London club’s decision-makers now feel that their decision to withdraw from talks over a new deal with the South Korean has been vindicated.
It is explained that the club initially spoke to the forward’s entourage over a multi-year deal but decided to call it off and simply activate the one-year extension to preserve his market value.
The Spurs board are now convinced that they made the right decision, with some club insiders expecting Son to depart N17 at the end of this season.

Son’s camp know he might not have a future at Spurs
The outlet goes on to explain that Son’s camp accept that the club are now looking at a host of other forward options, including left-wingers.
They see this as a clear sign that the long-serving Tottenham forward is no longer in Ange Postecoglou‘s long-term plans.
Son is expected to receive ‘strong interest’ from the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer at the end of the campaign.
