Josh Keeley’s stats show Tottenham have a goalkeeping gem to rival Antonin Kinsky

0

Tottenham Hotspur’s Josh Keeley has impressed so far this season at Leyton Orient, but how good are his numbers and what could the future hold for him? Let’s find out.

Tottenham Hotspur have sent several youngsters out on loan this season, including Yang, Lankshear, Donley, Josh Keeley and Ashley Phillips.

While these players are getting valuable game time and experience, Josh Keeley is one player who has stood out this season.

The young goalkeeper is on loan at League One club Leyton Orient and he is not alone as fellow Tottenham teammate Jamie Donley has settled in there as well.

The two youngsters have been impressive. Donley has been chipping in with goals and assists at the top of the field, while Keeley has been keeping things sure at the back.

Josh Keeley’s stats since joining Leyton Orient on loan

This season in the league, the shot-stopper’s record at Leyton Orient has been impressive. So far for the O’s, Josh Keeley has featured 21 times, conceded 14 goals, saved one penalty and kept 13 clean sheets.

It does not just stop there, the young goalkeeper has also chipped in with a well-taken headed goal in the FA Cup, as well as an assist in the League this season.

Additionally, in the race for the golden gloves, Keeley is one clean sheet behind Murphy Cooper of Stevenage who has 14, after featuring seven times more than the Tottenham loanee.

What next for Josh Keeley at Tottenham?

Indeed, Keeley has impressed so far this season, and there is a case to be made that he is the best-performing Tottenham loanee.

If he continues to impress, there will be talks about whether he should be an option for the Lilywhites next season – alongside the likes of Antonin Kinsky pushing Guglielmo Vicario for the number one jersey. While that is understandable, it is still a big jump going from League One to the Premier League.

Instead of such a jump, a loan move to a Championship side next season would be ideal, as this will help the young goalkeeper gain more experience in a much tougher league before joining Spurs.
