Potential Tottenham boost as target publicly falls out with his manager
One of Tottenham’s summer targets has just had a public spat with his manager, with reports indicating that his chances of a summer move have now gone up, thus boosting the Lilywhites’ transfer hopes.
Ademola Lookman has thrived in Italian football since swapping RB Leipzig for Atalanta back in 2022.
The versatile forward, who can operate as a number ten or on either flank, has been a mainstay in the Gian Piero Gasperini’s set-up over recent years and has extremely impressive numbers, having managed 15 goals and seven assists so far this season.
It has been widely reported over recent months that Tottenham are fans of Ademola Lookman and are considering offering an attacker a route back to the Premier League.
Lookman feels disrespected by his manager
Tottenham’s chances of landing the Nigeria international may have just been boosted after the player admitted that he feels disrespected by Gasperini’s recent comments.
Following elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Club Brugge, the Serie A club’s manager criticised Lookman for taking a penalty despite not being the designated taker, describing the forward as “one of the worst penalty takers I’ve ever seen.”
This comment has not gone down well with Lookman, who took to social media to admit that he feels hurt and disrespected by his manager.
The former Everton man wrote on social media: “Being singled out in the manner I have been not only hurts but feels deeply disrespectful, not least because of the immense hard work and commitment I have always put in each and every day to help bring success to this club and to the incredible fans of Bergamo.
“In truth, I have dealt with many difficult moments during my time here the majority of which I have never spoken about because in my opinion the team must always be protected and must come first. This makes what happened last night even more hurtful.”

GiveMeSport relays this comment by Lookman and say that Spurs are ‘smelling blood’ after the player’s fallout with Gasperini.
The outlet explains that Atalanta turned down any approaches that came their way for the forward during the January window.
However, a summer sale is ‘deemed as more realistic’, with the Serie A club valuing the attacker at around £50m.
