Tottenham plan surprise promotion for homegrown talent next season

0

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to reward Dane Scarlett with a more prominent role next season after Ange Postecoglou was left impressed by the young forward’s impact since returning from his loan spell.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Dane Scarlett has not had the smoothest journey at Spurs. The young striker was sent out on loan at the start of the season but was recalled to north London midway through the campaign.

During his stint at Oxford United, the 20-year-old put in a respectable showing, netting four goals in 20 appearances.

However, it is his performances since rejoining the Lilywhites that have caught the eye, particularly in Tottenham’s final Europa League league-phase clash, where he played a pivotal role in a 3-0 victory, scoring and assisting.

Despite those flashes of brilliance, game time has been hard to come by, even with Dominic Solanke and Richarlison sidelined. Ange Postecoglou revealed that Scarlett returned in poor physical condition and has instead opted for loan signing Mathys Tel as Tottenham’s main striker.

Dane Scarlett set for a bigger role under Ange Postecoglou next season

According to a report from GIVEMESPORT, Scarlett is now in line for greater first-team opportunities at Hotspur Way during the 2025/26 campaign.

Rather than being sent out on loan or sold permanently in the summer transfer window, the young striker is set to be integrated further into the squad.

Sources close to the outlet suggest that Postecoglou has been convinced of Scarlett’s potential following his recent cameo appearances.

As a result, the decision has been made to keep him at the club and allow him the chance to stake his claim for a bigger role next season.

Tottenham’s homegrown advantage and Scarlett’s potential impact

Since his return, Scarlett has contributed with a goal and two assists, making an impression in limited game time. Given Tottenham’s shortage of homegrown talent, his presence in the squad could be vital.

The 20-year-old was trusted to step up against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday after Solanke picked up a sore injury, although for a brief time.

GIVEMESPORT sources believe that he will continue to be given chances to force his way into Postecoglou’s long-term plans. If he takes them, he could prove to be a crucial asset for Spurs in the seasons to come.
