Tottenham receive blow in the race to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth
Tottenham’s pursuit of Dean Huijsen just appears to have got a lot harder as a fresh report shed light on what Real Madrid are thinking about a potential move for the Bournemouth man in the summer.
Huijsen has proven to be an inspired signing for Andoni Iraola’s men, with the centre-back’s solid displays at the back being one of the driving factors of Bournemouth’s charge towards European qualification.
The 19-year-old’s performances at the Vitality Stadium have unsurprisingly brought him to the attention of several clubs across the Premier League as well as around Europe.
Over recent weeks, reports have indicated that Tottenham have contacted Dean Huijsen’s camp over a potential switch to N17, but a fresh report reveals that Ange Postecoglou’s men may have to battle the biggest club in Europe for the centre-back’s services.
Dean Huijsen is near the top of Real Madrid’s wishlist
According to talkSPORT, the Bournemouth man has now emerged as a ‘major target’ for Los Blancos, who are looking to bolster their backline at the end of the season.
The report points out the Cherries would be helpless to stop Huijsen from leaving as he has a £50m release clause in his contract.
The outlet does not make any mention of Tottenham’s interest but reveals that Bayern Munich and Liverpool were previously keen on signing the teenager, thus leaving the door to those two re-entering the race this summer.
Why Real Madrid’s interest in Huijsen in may be good news for Spurs
While the entry of the La Liga giants into the transfer race would make it nearly impossible for Tottenham to sign Huijsen, it would still have a silver lining for Spurs.
We continue to hear that Real Madrid are plotting a move for Micky van de Ven, with the Spanish club appearing to be a huge fan of the Dutchman.
If they get their hands on Huijsen, Daniel Levy and Tottenham could at least breathe easy in the knowledge that they are not going to face a battle to keep hold of their pacy centre-back.
