Supercomputer predicts Tottenham’s Premier League finish after Bournemouth draw

0

A Supercomputer has predicted the Premier League table after Tottenham’s latest draw 2-2 draw against Bournemouth

Winning games is always important in football. It builds momentum, lifts spirits, and injects belief into a team.

Tottenham Hotspur, however, have not done enough of that this season. Sunday’s performance against Bournemouth was yet another reminder of their struggles.

From the first whistle, the Lilywhites looked second-best, outplayed in midfield, and consistently troubled by Bournemouth’s direct approach.

The Cherries dictated the tempo, broke through Spurs’ lines with ease, and looked a constant threat going forward.

On the balance of play, Spurs could have been 3-0 down within the first 30 minutes had Bournemouth been more clinical. But football is about moments. Spurs had theirs—and they took them.

Tottenham scrape a draw but remain stuck in mid-table

The match ended 2-2. A fortunate goal from Pape Matar Sarr, a cross-turned-shot, pulled Tottenham back into the contest after falling 2-0 behind.

Then, in the 84th minute, Heung-min Son converted from the penalty spot to end a nine-game goal drought—the longest barren spell of his last six years.

Of course, his strike was the 127th of his Premier League career, and it saw Son move up to 16th in the all-time top scorer chart.

The point gained made no difference in the table. Spurs remain 13th. But according to Opta’s latest supercomputer prediction, the final standings are already taking shape.

The model forecasts Tottenham to finish the season with 47.79 points – 13 more points than they have now.

Their hopes of securing European football are virtually nonexistent, with just a 0.01% chance of making the Europa League and a 0% chance of reaching the Champions League—Chelsea sit 15 points ahead.

On the brighter side, the supercomputer gives Spurs a 0% chance of relegation. Mid-table mediocrity is where they are expected to land.

Liverpool is almost certain to lift the title, Arsenal set for second

The rest of the league was also in action, and Opta has laid out its predictions for every team.

Liverpool are all but champions. The supercomputer gives Arne Slot’s side a staggering 99.49% chance of winning the league and a guaranteed 100% probability of securing Champions League football next season.

Arsenal, who have tried to ‘keep pace’, are projected to finish second, 13 points behind Liverpool. The Gunners have a 99% chance of returning to the Champions League but just a 0.51% shot at pulling off a late title upset.

Manchester City, reeling from a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, are expected to finish third. Meanwhile, Forest themselves are predicted to claim an incredible fourth-place finish, while Chelsea round out the top five.

At the bottom, Ipswich, Leicester, and Southampton are projected to occupy the relegation places, with all three clubs staring at an immediate return to the Championship.
