Tottenham ready big announcement this week that could annoy fans

0

The mood among the Tottenham fan base is not positive at the moment, with plenty of anger being directed at the ownership. The club now have just days to make a big announcement, which could further add to the discontent of the supporters.

Spurs have had an extremely poor season so far and many of the fans have directed their anger at the owners rather than Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff.

Tottenham supporters have protested in the thousands against ENIC and Daniel Levy, with many feeling that the club’s hierarchy have put profit before glory.

The negative feeling towards Levy and his ilk could grow even further as the club set to make an announcement, which left fans very angry this time last year.

Tottenham have until Friday to make season ticket announcement

Last year, Spurs decided to remove senior concessions and increase season ticket prices by 6 per cent, which did not go down well with many fans.

The Spurs Supporters’ Trust wrote to the club expressing their disappointment at the ticket price increase, labelling the increase as ‘excessive’ at a time when the fans were going through a cost-of-living crisis.

Now, TBR Football have now revealed that Tottenham have until Friday to announce the details for season ticket renewals for next season.

The timing could not be worse for the Spurs hierarchy, given the discontent among the fan base, with many supporters on social media already questioning why they pay such exorbitant prices to watch a struggling side.

Should the Lilywhites fail to progress past AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, the announcement may be met with even more fury.

Spurs hierarchy will have to be cautious of their perception

The club will argue that their decision to raise ticket prices last year was justified as it came on the back of the prices being frozen for several years.

One would thus imagine that they would not want to increase prices two years in a row, especially at a time when they are perceived as caring more about the bottom line than on-pitch success.

However, at the same time, reports over the last few months have indicated that Tottenham are in active talks regarding a takeover.

If ENIC and Levy have a clear exit strategy ahead in the near future, they might not care much about the way they are perceived and decide to raise ticket prices anyway.
