Tottenham’s move for £34m target could rest on Liverpool
Tottenham Hotspur are said to stepping up their interest in signing Lazio’s Gustav Isaksen in a deal worth around £34m, but the move could be heavily dependent on Liverpool’s transfer dealings.
Spurs are expected to be active in the summer transfer window, with reinforcements needed across midfield, attack, and defence.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have already been linked with several attacking options, including Tyler Dibling and Jonathan David, as they look to bolster their options further up the pitch.
With a clear lack of depth in attacking areas, it’s no surprise that Spurs are being linked with another versatile winger.
However, their latest target, Isaksen, could only be attainable if Liverpool facilitate Lazio’s plans in the market.
Tottenham Hotspur keen on Isaksen but need Liverpool to act
According to a report from TVPlay, Tottenham Hotspur ‘really like’ Danish winger Gustav Isaksen and could make a move for him worth more than €40m (£33.4m).
However, while a deal is not out of the question, it appears to be directly tied to Lazio’s ability to secure a replacement. This is where Liverpool enter the picture.
The Serie A club have been linked with a move for struggling Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa, who is expected to be available for transfer this summer for around €15m (£12.5m).
If Lazio successfully sign Chiesa, it could pave the way for Isaksen’s departure to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
Chiesa’s Liverpool struggles could unlock Spurs’ move
Chiesa has found game time hard to come by at Liverpool, which is understandable given the competition in their attacking ranks.
However, the Italian did provide a reminder of his quality in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, scoring Liverpool’s only goal in their 2-1 defeat.
As for Isaksen, Spurs’ interest makes complete sense. The 23-year-old has racked up 10 goals and 10 assists this season, and if he joins, he would add further competition for the likes of Heung-min Son and Brennan Johnson on the wings.
