With just over a week left to go until the opening of the summer transfer window, a new report has revealed that Tottenham’s recruitment department has identified their top priorities, even though it is not clear who the club’s manager is going to be at the start of next season.

Everyone associated with Tottenham Hotspur is still on a high after Wednesday’s historic success, with the club picking up their first European trophy in 41 years with their win over Manchester United in Bilbao.

The win in the final was extremely crucial for the club going into the summer as Champions League qualification has given Spurs a massive financial boost ahead of the transfer window.

It is now up to the Lilywhites to use the opportunity wisely to close the gap with the top teams in the Premier League and they reportedly have a clear plan on how to do so.

Tottenham’s summer priorities revealed

BBC Sport have now claimed that there is a sense within the club’s recruitment team that their young squad needs to be supplemented with experience this summer.

Signing experienced and seasoned campaigners is expected to be one of the club’s priorities, with an established central midfielder said to be at the top of Tottenham’s summer wishlist.

The report says that the Lilywhites will also look to secure a ‘ready-made replacement’ for Cristian Romero if they lose the Argentine this summer.

The outlet backs what we have heard from other sources by claiming that Spurs can go back in for Marc Guehi after their failed approach for the Crystal Palace centre-back in January.

Tottenham have work to do to tie down their experienced players

BBC Sport explains that Tottenham not only want to add experience to their squad but they also want to keep their most experienced players at the club, which may not be straightforward.

Heung-min Son and Rodrigo Bentancur have just one year left on their contracts, and it is revealed that Spurs have already held initial talks with the Uruguayan regarding an extension.

However, the publication adds that Tottenham’s focus on adding experience to their squad does not mean that they will abandon their strategy of signing young talent, with Southampton’s Tyler Dibling also emerging as a target for Spurs.
