David Beckham has paid tribute to Tottenham Hotspur in a heartfelt nine-word message following their Europa League triumph over his former club, Manchester United.
Spurs are no strangers to winning the Europa League, having first lifted the trophy back in 1972 when they beat English side Wolverhampton Wanderers, and again in 1984 when they overcame Belgian side Anderlecht.
It has been a celebration throughout N17 ever since, with the club ending their 17-year-long wait for silverware, doing so in the most dramatic of fashion.

Amidst the celebration, ex-Manchester United man David Beckham has now sent a heartfelt nine-word message to Tottenham Hotspur following their Europa League win.
The Englishman revealed that his Grandad, a lifelong Tottenham supporter, would have been proud of the club’s recent achievement, especially considering he would have witnessed the Lilywhites lift the UEFA Cup in both 1972 and 1984.
Beckham left his message on Tottenham’s official Instagram, where a video of the club’s open-top trophy parade was shared, writing: “My grandad would be one proud man @SpursOfficial. Congratulations.”
Tottenham’s European success adds to rich club history
Tottenham are European champions for the fourth time in their history, which is an impressive achievement.
Following their most recent triumph, the club now boasts 25 major trophies, including two league titles, eight FA Cups, four League Cups, and seven FA Community Shields.
In European football, they have won one European Cup Winners’ Cup and three UEFA Cup/Europa League titles. Later this year, on August 13, Spurs will have a chance to add one more trophy to their trophy cabinet when they play in the Super Cup final.
