Wigan’s Patrick Mago going back in time as he faces Herman Ese’ese once more
PATRICK Mago will be going back to school as he looks to power Wigan towards another Super League title by tackling Herman Ese’ese once again.
Only he was nowhere near as big when he lined up for Brisbane school Marsden – the same may not be said for the Hull FC man when he played for Wavell.
The powerful pair have formed cornerstones of their respective packs and collisions between the two may be mighty as Matt Peets men look to avenge a shock defeat last month.
However to the Warriors ace, it will be pretty much like child’s play after revealing his childhood matches against his foe.
“Herman’s playing well and they touched us up the last time we went there, so that’ll be in the back of our minds” said Mago, 29.
“I’d always be against him when we were growing up and playing for school, he was always pretty skilful too.
“We’d have been 14 or 15-years-old when we first played against each other – I remember he was fairly big back then.
“Obviously, he wasn’t as big then as he is now but that skill always made him one to watch – now he’s got bigger and better.

“There’s much more to come from him too.
“And when he’s running towards me, I’ve just got to put my body in front of him and hope he doesn’t bump me off!
“He really starts Hull’s momentum. If we try to minimise his metres, that will help us.”
