The 43-year-old died a day after the lengthy procedure, which he paid 500,000 rupees (£5,400) for.
His doctor who treated Shrawan told police he had asked his dermatologist Dr Vikas Halwai for 9,000 grafts in one sitting.
Dr Halwai admitted to officers that his patient began to develop complications after 3,700 grafts had been done.
The transplant began late last Thursday evening, but by 2.3am on Friday he started to suffer neck pain.
WHAT IS A HAIR TRANSPLANT
A hair transplant is a surgical cosmetic procedure that moves follicles from one part of the head to a another where hair is thinning or receding.
In the UK the procedure is not available on the NHS and can cost between £1,000 and £30,000 for private treatment.
Transplants usually take a full day and involve removing individual grafts of hair one-by-one and placing them into tiny cuts in the scalp.
Hair specialists say the maximum yield of grafts per day is up to 3,000.
Patients must wait up to 18-months before starting to see the full rsults of the transplant.
Risks of having the operation include: excessive bleeding as well as infection or allergic reaction to the anaesthetic or sedation.
He was given painkillers and antibiotics before being rushed to Global Hospital in Parel, where he started having breathing difficulties.
Shrawan was moved to Hiranandani by a friend on Saturday, where he sadly died.
A probe has been launched into his incident after police listed the death as accidental.
No official cause of death has been recorded yet, but doctors told The Times of India it is likely he had a severe allergic reaction known as anaphylactic shock.
The Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons in India claimed only a “few” hair transplant patients will suffer breathing difficulties.

A spokesperson for the body said: “Patients often try to pressure doctors to cover large areas in one sitting.
“We do not plan more than 2,500-3,000 grafts in one sitting and make sure it is completed in six to eight hours.
“Prolonged time and extended anaesthesia can compound problems.”
