A COIN fan who stabbed a fellow enthusiast to death and stole his collection has been jailed for life.
Danny Bostock, 33, broke into Gordon McGhee’s flat and knifed him at least 14 times.
He then rifled through Mr McGhee’s coins and stole limited edition Beatrix Potter 50p pieces.
Bostock also tried to trigger a gas explosion to destroy evidence. But DNA on a dishcloth and trainer prints linked him to the scene in Colchester, Essex.
A jury found him guilty of murder and attempted arson at Ipswich crown court. He must serve at least 30 years.
Judge David Goodwin said Mr McGhee, 52, was a generous man who had given Bostock “one or two” duplicate coins in “recognition of his interest”.

He said: “When he did that, he sowed the seeds of his own destruction at your hands.
“You decided you could have that collection, then in the early hours . . . you went after it. This was a murder done for gain.”
The court heard Bostock had 44 previous convictions, including for rape.
