A NEW online calculator could help you to find out how much your car will cost over the next three years.
And the tool can help breakdown what your motor’s costs are and when you’ll have to pay them.
Launched by auto data experts HPI, the free online calculator allows drivers to find out how much they can expect to spend over the next years on their car.
By entering your vehicle’s registration, you can get an individual break down on how much you’ll have to fork out on services, fuel, road tax and even tyre replacement.
Before purchasing your next car, you can use the tool to find out if a car will hold its value and is cheap to run.
The technology – named TCO Check – can also be used to alert you of any future costs so you can plan your finances well in advance.
The tool uses real-time data to build up to date vehicle running and maintenance costs.
Fernando Garcia, consumer director at HPI, said: “There are many costs associated with owning a car, and these are often overlooked, hurting the motorist after they’ve already parted with their cash.

“This should bring an end to that and provide complete transparency on motoring costs for cars so no nasty surprises six months or three years down the line.
“It’s important to understand and consider costs, before committing to buying a car.
“By helping drivers to work out the costs involved in a vehicle they are interested in we can help them to make their minds up about whether the car is right for them and that it is economically viable.”
