GETTING prepared for Christmas is on a lot of parents minds throughout the year – but Poundland may have taken their festive groundwork one step too far.
One mum spotted that the retailer had started stocking ‘Santa stop here’ doormats in MARCH, which is a bit premature even by the keenest standards.
Posting to the Poundland Appreciate Society Facebook group, the woman sent a photo of the mats which say ‘Santa please stop here’ next to a pair of Father Christmas’ legs
Stocked next to the Mother’s Day items, she wrote of the £1 house accessory: “I think Poundland are getting in early for Christmas.”
Her post has since been liked by dozens of shoppers, baffled that the shop is stocking Christmas items with a huge 270 days to go until the big day.
Others admitted their local stores too had been flogging the doormats, and some even confessed to buying one.
One store assistant said: “We’ve got them in our store – 470 of them. Me and my colleagues thought we could at least get Easter out the way first!”
Another worker said: “We got 400 delivered on Tuesday.”
A fan of the item added: “I would love one or maybe a couple to store away as I couldn’t find them last year. I was too late.”
While a baffled shopper laughed: “This Christmas malarkey is getting earlier and earlier every year!”
