Davina McCall shares smiley selfie hours after breaking down over sister’s death during Celebrity Bake Off
DAVINA McCall has shared a smiley selfie hours after viewers saw her breaking down over her sister’s death during Celebrity Bake Off.
The 51-year-old lost her sister Caroline after a battle with lung cancer in 2012.
During last night’s Celebrity Bake Off, Davina appeared in a video and tearfully spoke about Caroline’s diagnosis and death, leaving viewers heartbroken.
But today Davina shared a picture from her holidays, smiling broadly in her bikini and a pair of sunglasses.
She captioned it: “Hello! Me and the Famalam are on holiday . Thinking about my #fibrefit goal everyday … feeling really happy as have done two types of exercise I don’t do very often today and they didn’t aggravate my hip or my dodge finger.
“I did very simple yoga before everyone woke up which was fantastic ( inspired by you @fearnecotton ) and Chester and I went surfing this afternoon. “We haven’t been for a year . Chester was amazing… remembered everything from last year ( unlike me) and he did some tricks!!
“It was so great to spend time out on the water. Good for the noggin.”
Her happy post was in stark contrast to her emotional monologue during last night’s show.
She said: ”
“It was a Tuesday afternoon. I was in accident and emergency of Pembury Hospital and I was sitting with my sister and I was confused because I was convinced she’d had a stroke, convinced.
“And they came back in and they said, ‘I’m afraid it’s not good news, you’ve got tumour in both of your lungs, primary caner is lung cancer’. And we were like, ‘What?’.
“You know it was my big sister, so my big sister always looked after me. But I had to just be strong, kept saying, ‘It’s going to be all right, it’s going to be all right’ we can get through this together. We can do this. It’s going to be all right.
“And I remember going outside of the room and just thinking, ‘What am I going to do?’”
Davina, who separated from her husband Matthew Robertson in 2017, was there when Caroline collapsed in the cottage next door to her.
She called the ambulance believing she’d suffered a stroke.
Her voice cracking up and tears appearing in her eyes, Davina spoke about the moment she died.
She said: “I’d been with Caroline almost every day bar three or four days from her diagnosis to her death and for three days I knew she was bad. I slept on her floor next to her bed holding her hand.

“I just closed my eyes, I heard her breathing difficulty, I opened my eyes, ‘I think she’s going’.
“The fact that I was there with her I hope meant a lot to her because it meant so much to me.”
The mum of three added: “How do I move on? I do move on. Life goes on. But she lives on with my children.
“We celebrate her birthday, we try and forget the days she died.
“What I miss the most now about Caroline is just talking, I just miss talking.”
