Katie Price comforts mum Amy as she breaks down while discussing funeral plans after terminal lung disease diagnosis
KATIE Price comforted her mum Amy after she broke down in tears while discussing funeral plans after her terminal lung disease diagnosis.
Amy appeared alongside her famous daughter on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine this morning as the panel debated the importance of children caring for their sick parents.
Speaking about how she copes with her mum’s terminal illness, Katie explained that she has tried to “make as many memories as she can” in addition to more practical things, such as planning Amy’s funeral.
Speaking to the host, the 40-year-old star explained: “My brother and sister say ‘don’t think of it’, but I am very matter of fact.”
Turning to her mum, she continued: “Like your funeral, what funeral would you like? What would you like there?
“And it’s good that you’ll be able to plan that so when the day comes my mum has it exactly how she would like it, that’s the way I think of it.”
Amy, 64, looked visibly emotional and choked up as she replied: “It’s ironic, that is.
“You go through all these things you want to do, write letters and stuff… I want my funeral to be a good funeral, I will be there.”
Katie reached over to comfort her mum as she started to cry, with the mother-of-five reassuring her: “You don’t have to think of that now, do you mum?
“I just want it to be how she wants it because she has the chance.
“It’s not going to happen yet, you know it’s not.”
Earlier in the segment, Katie admitted that caring for her 16-year-old son Harvey, who suffers from multiple disabilities, helped her slip into the carer role following her mum’s devastating diagnosis.
Amy explained: “I have three children, a son and another daughter as well, we’ve not come to the situation yet where I rely on anyone.
“I have a husband as well and I imagine in some way he will become my main carer.”
Referencing Katie she continued: “But this one will probably get more involved than the others.”
The former glamour model agreed, adding: “In my situation, because I have always had to care for Harvey, from six weeks old when I found he was blind, he’s got all these disabilities, he’s on medication for life.
“I’ve been through all of that and I am a natural carer.

“With my mum, it was such a shock because she’s never smoked, she’s so healthy, she goes to the gym and always has done. It’s all come from a cough.
“We were so shocked because it’s terminal.”
Amy was diagnosed with idopathic pulmonary fibrosis in 2017, with the illness causing scarring to the lungs which reduces the sufferer’s ability to breathe.
The mother-of-three refused Katie’s offer of a lung transplant through fear for her daughter’s well being, with the star going on to run the London Marathon in aid of the British Lung Foundation last year.
