PUNTERS have kicked off the weekend in style, arriving at Aintree’s Grand National for what will be a weekend of betting and boozing.
Revellers are already posing for snaps in the sunshine, with guests donning sky-high heels, huge hats and colourful ensembles.

This year, the event begins today and ends on Saturday April 6.
And while it’s one of the biggest events on the racing calendar, it’s also the perfect opportunity to win in the style stakes, with Aintree offering a “Style Award” for the best dressed.
According to the website, the style code for Aintree’s Ladies Day – which takes place tomorrow – is inspired by the Coco Chanel quote: “Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.”
Encouraging racegoers to “dress to impress and show off their personality” the Style Award is for both male and female visitors.

The lucky winner will take home a Range Rover Evoque and a year’s supply of dresses from Chi Chi London.
ITV Racing stylist, Sarah Kate Byrne, Jay Hynd from the Guide Liverpool and a representative from Chi Chi London will be judging the award.
And partygoers have been dressed to impress so far, with designer heels, huge hats and a selection of daring dresses.
From one woman donning a Big Ben tattoo to a retro-inspired red gown, the dolled-up ladies are getting into the party spirit already.
