Schoolboy ‘scalped’ on £50k slide in children’s playground after other kids suffer broken teeth and bruises

A LAD needed emergency surgery after being “scalped” when he whacked his head on a play-park slide branded a “deathtrap.”

Primary schoolboy Jordan Spilsbury was with mum Tasha at the Beachfields Play Area in Sheerness, Kent, when the accident happened on Tuesday.

The play-park opened in February but the £50k castle – which features a flume style slide and a fireman’s pole – had to be shut a week later when scores of children reported injuries.

One child cracked a tooth while others suffered bruises to their head, arms and legs as they ‘flew down’ the slide.

But Jordan was playing in the sandpit on Tuesday when he slipped and whacked his head on the slide, which is nearby.

Mum Tasha posted photos of her son’s injuries to Facebook, demanding the castle be removed by the council.

She wrote: “My son was in the sandpit at Sheerness Beachfield park with his friends and slipped on the ground surrounding the castle.

“He hadn’t fallen off the castle, but slipped and headbutted the metal construction and managed to de-glove his scalp to the point his skull is showing.

“It’s not just a bump on the slide, he was scalped.”

Local Charlie Jackson launched a petition to get the castle slide closed down in February this year after branding it a ‘deathtrap’ when her nephew hurt himself on the slide.

She said: “This £50,000 investment into the play area has funded nothing but a “death-trap”.

A spokesman for Swale Borough Council said it was investigating and that the castle slide was currently closed off.
