Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa praises ‘brave’ Emilia Clarke for revealing two near-fatal brain aneurysms during show filming
GAME of Thrones Jason Momoa has praised his on-screen wife Emilia Clarke for revealing she had two near-fatal brain aneurysms.
Speaking at the premiere of season eight, held at Radio City Music Hall in New York, the actor called Emilia “brave” before admitting they “almost lost her”.
The hunk, who is married to the stunning Lisa Bonnet, played Emilia’s husband Khal Drogo in HBO show before he was killed off in the devastating finale of the first season.
As the much-anticipated final of the fantasy series is set to air in a just over a week’s time, the 39-year-old reflected on Emilia’s recent admission about her health scare.
He said: “I’ve kind of been a part of that whole situation for a very long time, so we’ve had so many scares and trying to find the right way to come out and help.
“I just think it’s beautiful that… she’s so brave in helping the world and trying to raise awareness.
He added: “I’m very sad, because we almost lost her the first time. So, I love her to bits and she’s here and she’s going to do great things with it and teach the world.”
Emilia, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, recently revealed that she suffered two brain aneurysms – which can be fatal – shortly after filming the first season.
In an essay published in the New Yorker, the 32-year-old revealed she had just finished filming the first season of Game Of Thrones when she had her first brain aneurysm.
Emilia, who was 24 at the time, had been working out with a personal trainer when she became sick and collapsed.

The actress was quickly sent for an MRI where they diagnosed her with a subarachnoid haemorrhage.
This type of hemorrhage is a life-threatening form of stroke, which is caused by bleeding around the brain and a third of patients die immediately or soon after suffering one.
Emilia admitted that in her darkest hours after the surgery and during her recovery she asked medical staff to let her die.
She said: “In my worst moments, I wanted to pull the plug. I asked the medical staff to let me die. My job—my entire dream of what my life would be—centered on language, on communication. Without that, I was lost.”
Now Emilia has come out of the other side of her condition and says she at “a hundred per cent”.
Speaking about the end of GoT, the actress said: “There is something gratifying, and beyond lucky, about coming to the end of “Thrones.”
“I’m so happy to be here to see the end of this story and the beginning of whatever comes next.”
