Acid attack victim, 25, relives horror moment pal hurled drain fluid over him in ‘jealous’ row
AN ACID attack victim has recalled the terrifying moment his attacker “watched him burn” after he doused him with drain cleaner in a jealous rage.
Joe Davis, 23, had the liquid, which contained more than 90 per cent sulphuric acid, thrown at his face and body by Roger Comer, 45.

Joe, from Slough, was left with horrific second and third degree burns and Comer was jailed for nine years.
He believes Comer was motivated by jealousy because the pair stopped spending as much time together.
Joe told the BBC: “I’d never forgive him for what he’s done, he just stood there and stared at me and watched me burn.
“I’ve been left with lifelong scarring but I’ve got the psychological scarring to match as well, and I’m just never going to be able to forget it.”
‘I’LL NEVER FORGIVE HIM’
Comer, who had been described by Joe as a “father figure”, accused his victim of putting vape juice into his drink and an argument ensued.
The pair met when Joe, who entered the care system at 14, was living in hostel and were friends for two years before the attack.
After the argument in July 2017 Comer turned up at his door holding a screwdriver..
Joe said: “We got into an argument outside his house and he accused me of trying to poison him with vape juice.
“This is someone I looked up to, we had a good relationship and he was capable of doing something like this to me.
“As soon as it hit me it was like someone poured petrol over me and lit a lighter. A part of me is still in shock that it’s happened.”
Joe, who suffered burns to his face, chest, neck and hands, wasn’t allowed to go out in direct sunlight for a year after the attack.

He was wrapped up in bandages and had to take medication every three hours to ease the pain.
Joe has now now said that he believes Comer should have got a longer sentence for the attack.
He said: “Anytime I can see my scars on show there’s a constant reminder of what that coward done to me.”
Joe added: “I’m left with it for the rest of my life and I think he deserves the same.
“He can sit and ponder what he’s done and the pain he’s inflicted on someone else.”
Joe previously revealed his belief that it was an act of revenge because they had drifted apart.

He said: “I believe it was jealously. I had stopped hanging around with him as much and I started enjoying my life as a young man.
“I believe it was a revenge attack for that.
“I want people to know what a coward he is and the lack of remorse that he showed to me. We had a close relationship but he was still able to inflict so much pain upon someone that was close to him.
“When it first happened I wasn’t able to say his name, but now I want to name and shame him and show what kind of person he really is. I want to show the monster he really is.”
Joe said he lived in constant fear Comer was going to strike again, as he was bailed for two years before he was sentenced.

But he said: “If you’re a victim of such a vicious attack you shouldn’t hide away, or keep yourself to yourself and not trust anyone.
“Don’t let it have such a profound effect on your life. By letting someone have such a knock on effect on your whole life, ultimately you’re letting them win.
“Show them that you’re bigger, you’re stronger and keep fighting for what you want in life.”
