A military technique soldiers use to guarantee they get enough sleep has been revealed to help those who find it impossible to nod off.
And the simple system – which even works on the battlefield – is said to virtually guarantee ANYBODY can get to sleep within just 120 seconds.
The US Army technique is revealed in a book titled ‘Relax and Win: Championship Performance’ and it is said to have a 96 per cent success rate, reports Joe.co.uk
It is a secret method that has long been used by the American military with a near 100 per cent success rate after a few weeks of practice.
Military leaders came up with the system when they realised many of their pilots were making terrible, avoidable decisions due to stress and the resulting sleeplessness.
Even when pilots clocked off, they couldn’t relax and they couldn’t sleep. So their stress and fatigue built up, till they made a fatal error.
STEP BY STEP GUIDE
FIRST STEP – Relax the muscles in your face, including your tongue, jaw, and the muscles around your eyes.
SECOND STEP – Drop your shoulders as low as they’ll go before relaxing your upper and lower arm on one side, and then the other
THIRD STEP – Is to breathe out, relax your chest and then finally, relax your legs, starting with your thighs and then your lower legs.
FOURTH STEP – After 10 seconds of deep relaxation the next step is to completely clear your mind.
The book’s author Lloyd Bud Winter suggests picturing one of the following three images will help:
- Lying in a canoe on a calm lake, nothing but blue sky above you.
- Snuggled in a black velvet hammock in a pitch-black room.
- Saying “don’t think, don’t think, don’t think” over and over for ten seconds.
