GAME OF THRONES viewers were quite literally left in the dark as the fantasy epic returned to TV screens today.
Fans flocked to social media to complain about the pitch black scenes as members of the Night’s Watch hunt down big bad of the series, the Night King.
After their fate was left unclear following the Breaching of the Wall in season 7, fan-favourites Tormund and Beric Dondarrio returned to the action.
Travelling across the North, they had a surprise reunion with former comrade Eddison Tollet – as the group made a shock discovery of a warning left behind by the Night King.
But Game of Thrones fanatics flocked to social media in droves to complain about the darkness of the heart-pounding scenes.
One viewer tweeted: “I can’t see anything. This episode is too dark.”
Another put: “Another one of those scenes that’s too dark to see if you’re watching during the day.”
Others appealed directly to the Game of Thrones producers to reconsider their approach to lighting.
One put: “Dear @GameOfThrones, I understand your moody thematic lighting but I can’t f***ing see what’s going on.”
As the British public got to tune in hours after the US broadcast, a whole new wave of disgruntled viewers found themselves straining to see the action.
One commented: “Game of Thrones be TOO DARK! I can’t see.”
Another ranted: “My only complaint about Game of Thrones is that it is too dark! Literally. Can I get a flashlight in here?”
Others used the fine art of sarcasm, writing: “My favourite part of Game of Thrones is when I no longer know what’s going on because the screen is so dark, but I am too lazy to turn off the lights.”
A preview clip for next week’s episode saw Daenerys Targaryen in a fierce mood as she confronts longtime enemy Jaime Lannister over the murder of her father.
