Netflix tests “random play” button that picks a show for you when you don’t know what to watch
NETFLIX is testing a new feature that decides what to watch for you.
The ‘Random Play’ button is currently available on the Netflix Android app and can select random episodes of popular TV shows for users to watch when they can’t decide.

This feature may be useful for users who have a favorite series that they’ve already watched every episode of but want to watch it again, such as Friends, Peep Show and The Office.
It would essentially act like a shuffle button on a music playlist.
The feature was first spotted by the tech website Android Police.
Netflix Android app users can find the shuffle icon in a new section called ”Play a Popular Episode’.
A Netflix spokesperson told CNET: “We are testing the ability to for members to play a random episode from different TV series on the Android mobile app,’ a Netflix spokesperson told CNET.
“These tests typically vary in length of time and by region, and may not become permanent.”
Episodes from shows like Our Planet and New Girl are said to be recommended by the feature.
Like with all tested features, we don’t yet know if the ‘Random Play’ button will be considered popular and successful enough to be rolled out onto all forms of Netflix.

Last week, Netflix warned that its planned price hikes could be large enough to make users quit the app and the number of new subscribers decrease.
The streaming service has new competition from Disney Plus, which is launching Marvel and Star Wars spin-offs.
Disney Plus will also feature every Simpsons episode ever made and is set to be half the price of Netflix.
