Neymar was collecting his runners-up medal at the Stade de France when it is claimed a Rennes supporter told him to “learn how to play football”.
The ex-Barcelona ace then appears to swipe at the fan – with the French football commission set to meet this week to arrange a suitable punishment.
Neymar could now face a hefty ban that could run well into next season under French rules.
It is thought the Samba star will land at least a five-match ban for acting “after the match”, “against a player, coach, trainer, official or a member of the public.”
BAN INCOMING
But, if he is found to have committed “brutality not causing injury or resulting in an injury found by medical certificate to not cause a temporary incapacity for work”, his ban would be extended to eight matches.
In this instance, the aggression could fall under the “any violent action by a player, damaging the physical integrity of the person who is the victim” rule.
Just a day before the ugly brawl, Neymar had been slapped with a three-match Champions League ban for his VAR rant.
The £198million star told officials to “go f*** yourselves” after controversially being dumped out of the competition by Manchester United.

Despite the recent uproar, PSG officials have firmly claimed they will stand by Neymar.
Prior to Neymar’s latest meltdown, PSG had earlier slipped to a penalty shootout defeat in the French Cup final to Rennes.
The Parisiens lost 6-5 on penalties having initially led 2-0 thanks to goals from Neymar and Dani Alves, before Rennes brought it back to 2-2.
