The tech Goliath is adding the Amazon Prime Video app to its V6 set-top box this summer.
Speaking about the update, Lutz Schüler, COO of Virgin Media, said: “This partnership with Amazon reinforces our track record of teaming with the best to give our customers unbeatable content.
“Virgin Media customers will soon be able to seamlessly search for and watch incredible Amazon Prime programming directly from their V6 box in the highest possible quality.
“With thousands of box sets, movies, exclusive and original content, as well as 20 live Premier League games airing later this year, Virgin Media customers will have even more of the TV they love in one place all powered by our ultrafast connectivity.”
It marks a fresh blow for bitter rival Sky, which recently added Netflix to its Sky Q service but has no plans as of yet to integrate Amazon Prime content.

Virgin said Prime will hit its V6 boxes in summer 2019 allowing customers with a Prime account to watch its content without needing to switch to another service.
The news comes as Virgin announces a huge shakeup to its TV, phone and broadband bundle lineup.
They’ve boosted the speed of their top tier broadband, and customers can now save cash by combining TV, internet and mobile services into one bill.
There’s also a new way to pick and mix your TV channels – ‘Personal Picks’ – which means you’ll only pay for the things you actually want to watch.
A new top tier bundle, dubbed VVIP, basically offers everything the company can for £99 per month.
That includes 500Mbps broadband and a beefy mobile plan with unlimited data, calls and texts.
It also boasts unlimited landline calls and all the TV your eyes can take including BT Sport in 4K Ultra HD, Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD and the Kids Pick among 300 channels also available as part of Virgin’s Full House bundle.
You’ll also get two V6 boxes for your troubles.
