BRITS flocked to the beach and parks today as they basked in the hottest day of the year.
Temperatures soared to 28.8C in Weybourne, Norfolk today – marking the highest temperature in the UK since August last year.

And sun-lovers were pictured stripping off this afternoon, delighting in the second consecutive hottest day of the year after the mercury tipped 27.3C at Heathrow yesterday.
The UK’s temperatures even overtook those recorded in sunny Ibiza in Spain, which today recorded highs of just 22C.
Met Office forecaster Steven Keates told The Sun Online: “We have beaten yesterday’s temperatures today.
“The highest we have had is 28.8 at Weybourne in Norfolk, making it a hot day in Eastern England.”
But he noted the heat had been confined to Eastern England after a cold front had been pushing from the west, with temperatures reaching just 15C in parts of Wales.
He said: “There’s quite a big temperature contrast. It has been hit and miss with some places seeing some splashes of rain.”
And after getting a taste of a sunny weekend, summer-hungry Brits have been warned to brace for lower temperatures this week.
Strong winds are expected across the northern part of the UK, with Scotland and Northern Ireland at risk of “unseasonable” gusts of wind.
Mr Keates added: “It will be a fresher night, then quite a bit cooler in the South East tomorrow with temperatures of 21C, 22C.”
OUTLOOK FOR THE WEEK
Brits hoping for the warm weather to continue this week will also be disappointed.
The forecast suggests unsettled weather, with a mixture of sunny spells and showers by Tuesday.
Mr Keates said: “This week will be changeable, and a bit on the cool side.
“While it won’t be a washout, and there will be sunshine in between, definitely keep the umbrellas at hand.”
