Send holiday hang-ups to travelchallenge@thesun.co.uk. Here’s this week’s question.
Q — I love history and my wife is looking for sun and sea.
Are there any recommendations for a European holiday that ticks both these boxes?
A — Malta is an excellent choice.
The capital, Valletta, is both the sunniest city in Europe and one of the world’s most concentrated historic centres.
Explore its 16th-century architecture, ancient temples and the legacy of the Knights of St John, who ruled the island from 1530 to 1798.
Meanwhile, your wife can soak up the rays at one of many lovely beaches, such as sandy St George’s Bay, a 15-minute drive or bus ride from central town.
Flights to Malta from Gatwick start at £172pp return, find details at britishairways.com and learn more at maltauk.com.
Crete is also packed with both sunshine and culture.
Head to the Minoan Palaces of Knossos before jumping on a boat to the tiny island of Spinalonga with its 16th-century Venetian fortifications, built to fend off pirates and Turkish invaders.
