Ed Sheeran will star in rom-com Yesterday and bagged film cameo for his wife
WITH no acting training, it was a coup for Ed Sheeran to land a role in Danny Boyle’s new film Yesterday — but he also got his wife a part.
I can reveal the superstar bagged partner Cherry Seaborn a cameo opposite him in the rom-com, which is set to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.
Since getting together with Ed, Cherry has stayed out of the spotlight and kept her job at accountancy firm Deloitte, but she jumped at the chance to play cabin crew handing out champagne on Ed’s private jet.
A source said: “Shooting this film was a real laugh and they did some of it on Ed’s tour. Cherry visits him on the road a fair amount and ended up getting to feature in a scene as an extra. It’s only a tiny part but Ed and Cherry thought it was hilarious, and it’s pretty cute. She even appears in the end credits.”
Yesterday follows a struggling singer-songwriter, played by ex-Eastenders actor Himesh Patel, who wakes after a road accident to discover he lives in a world where The Beatles never existed.
After he passes off the band’s music as his own, he is spotted by Ed and becomes a superstar. While Ed has several scenes in the movie — written by Richard Curtis, the genius behind Notting Hill and Love Acually — Cherry’s is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it appearance.
On top of Ed’s pay cheque for starring in the film, the Shape Of You singer is bound to make a fortune from his music and clothing sales. He wears one of the branded hoodies from his streetwear label, Hoax, for his minute-long first scene.
The Sun told in 2017 how he had invested in the Suffolk company to help them go global. Getting his clobber in front of millions of viewers in this movie is better than any ad campaign.
Velvet love song to Queen’s legacy
PLAYING with Queen has done wonders for Adam Lambert’s own career.
The US singer, who has toured as the group’s frontman for eight years, has realised what makes an amazing tune from performing their back catalogue and has channelled it into his upcoming album, Velvet.
In an exclusive interview, he said: “It does give me a perspective of what a good song is and why it works.
“I’ve learned a lot from singing those Queen songs for audiences. You go, ‘OK, this is a good chorus, this is a good hook, this is a good message’. I suppose that’s one of the things that inspired a lot of my new songs.”
And Adam whose single New Eyes was released last month, reckons the late Queen icon Freddie Mercury could have been a fan. He said: “I would hope that he would like some of it.
“I feel like one of my new songs, Super Power, is like a second cousin to Another One Bites The Dust, it has a little bit of the same DNA.
“I didn’t set out to emulate any of Queen’s songs specifically, but I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice to have an album of music that a Queen fan can wrap their ears around’.”

Go for Selena album
IT has taken almost four years, but Selena Gomez has finally completed the follow-up to her last album.
The It Ain’t Me singer confirmed “it’s finally done” as she walked the red carpet at the New York premiere of her upcoming zombie comedy movie The Dead Don’t Die.
She worked opposite comic legend Bill Murray on the film, but admitted he didn’t have a clue who she was.
Selena said: “It was iconic being able to work with Bill Murray. “He has no idea who I am!
“And he refuses to call me Selena. He basically calls me Gomez.”
Ear plugs needed
NICKY Byrne limbered up for Sunday’s Soccer Aid by visiting Leeds United’s Elland Road.
The Westlife singer played in the winning FA Youth Cup team of 1997, and took son Rocco back to relive his youth.
Nicky will be in goal this weekend for the Rest Of The World team, managed by Piers Morgan. He better pack ear plugs.

Mick: I’m ready to roll after op
IT won’t be long until Mick Jagger is back on stage.
The Rolling Stones rocker said he is “feeling pretty good” in his first interview since heart surgery. But he did vow to cut back on work commitments.
Mick added: “I’ve been rehearsing a lot lately. This morning I did the gym.” The band had to postpone their US No Filter Tour after Mick was taken into hospital in April. It will now kick off in Chicago next week.
Bandmate Keith Richards joked the health scare won’t serve as a wake-up call for the rest of the group. He said: “It was just, ‘Oh, Mick will be better’.
“We’re feeling good. There’s no reason to stop, really.”
He won’t be ditching his caner habits any time soon then.

Honey G has recorded comeback track Jerk It and will be releasing the single on September 27.
Honey, who competed in the 2016 series, raps: “Can I get some sauce? With some extra jerk? Tell my man his giblets need to get to work.”
She has created a dance – the chicken wing, a cross between the funky chicken and the running man – to go with the song and she hopes it will be a viral hit.
That’s one way to get Simon Cowell’s attention again.
