Get summer holiday-ready on the cheap with affordable beauty products— plus win £50k in The Sun Raffle
IT’S summer holiday prep time – but don’t spend a packet before you’ve even done your packing. A recent survey found we fork out an average £350 preparing to go away — more than enough for another holiday.
I love beauty products but there’s no way I’m splashing out big bucks. In fact, I plan to pamper myself for less than a couple of pounds a time. Here’s how . . .

FEET FIRST: Holidays mean flip-flops, but after our feet have been under wraps for most of the year it’s time to look after them. Professional pedicures can be pricey but shoppers have been raving about a £1 peeling foot mask from Poundland that leaves feet baby-soft and smooth in a jiffy. Similar foot peels cost around £18 at cultbeauty.co.uk — and let’s not even get started on salon prices.
SAVING: at least £17
NAILED IT: Top off your toes with a slick of lasting nail polish. Essence’s Shine Last & Go! Gel Nail Polish, £1.60 at Wilko, is my go-to cheap polish and you’d be hard pushed to find better value on the high street. I like shade 04 — it goes with everything and looks pretty on hands or feet in warmer months, plus it’s a similar shade to Essie’s pink Mademoiselle Nail Polish, £7.99 at Superdrug.
SAVING: £6.39
TAN-TASTIC: If there’s one thing you can say about those Towie gals, it’s that they always perfect their glow. The first day on the beach can be a bit daunting, especially if you’re feeling a little pasty. Add a subtle glow with a gradual tan. I love Essex beauty Jess Wright’s Gradual tan in medium, £1 at Poundland. The range also offers instant wash-off tanners at the same price — a snip compared to St Tropez products, which cost £15 at Asos.
SAVE: £14
FACE FACTS: Don’t fork out a fortune on an expensive facial. I like Superdrug’s Skin Rescue Manuka Honey Peel-Off Mask. It’s great value at just 99p, compared to Manuka Doctor 24K Gold & Manuka Honey Facial Peel for £30.
