TRADITIONAL picnic treats such as jam sarnies, hard-boiled eggs and pork pies are being replaced by fancy dips and deli meats.
And instead of grabbing some cheap lager from an off-licence, picnickers are now more likely to pack an artisan lemonade or ginger beer.
Shop-bought rolls are also out — with deli-counter serrano or Parma ham more likely to find a home on a hunk of sourdough bread.
And rather than picking at chicken drumsticks, sausage rolls, quiche and cocktail sausages, Brits are now more likely to indulge in Kalamata olives, hummus, rare roast beef and home-made cakes.
Spread-maker Flora surveyed 2,000 people and found that two-thirds had made a big effort to upgrade their al-fresco offerings in recent summers.

More than a third admitted to getting competitive when it comes to picnic spreads.
For fun, 43 per cent go with a football and 36 per cent take a frisbee — while 11 per cent take a laptop and nine per cent a drone.
A Flora spokesman said: “Picnics are an absolute staple of the Great British summertime, and it’s fascinating to see how they are evolving into a more lavish occasion.”
