JAMES Corden says he will stay on his US chat show for “a few years” before quitting – despite missing the UK.
The 40-year-old appeared on the Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show this morning, just hours after admitting he wants his kids to go to British schools.
Chris asked James about his time on The Late Late Show, a job he’s had since 2015, and what his plans for the future are.
James – who is in London to film his show in the UK for a week – replied: “I don’t know, I imagine I’ll stay doing it for a little while…that’s my hunch.”
The star only has a year left of his five-year contract, and Chris asked him what he would sign on for if he had to draw up a new contract right now.
The dad-of-three replied: “It would be for a few years. My hunch is I will continue to do it.
“It might be that every time it comes up I think ‘God there’s still more I want to do’ but then it might be that…there’s things I really miss about being in a play, or writing, or a TV narrative.
“There are things I miss greatly.”
The star – who recently confirmed he was working on a Gavin and Stacey Christmas Special – also opened up about the personal reasons he would want to leave the show during a chat with the Stagecraft podcast.
He said: “We’re a long way from home, my wife and I, and our children, and there are people at home that we miss deeply and we care about and they’re getting older.

“Then there is the question of where do we educate our children and where is the best environment for them.”
James, who is married to charity worker Julia Carey, explained his personal dilemma to Chris too, and added: “We have greater questions than ‘do I want to keep doing the show?’
“We’ll see really, we’ll cross or burn that bridge when we get to it.”
