Police were called to a Randwick home in Sydney’s east at 2.15am on Friday after receiving a call regarding a domestic incident.
Hamann, who represented Germany 59 times, was arrested and subsequently charged with common assault.
Police said the woman was not injured but took out an apprehended violence order (AVO) to protect her.
Yet, Hamann is said to have violated this order by calling the woman and was then arrested again.
Earlier today, Hamann was granted bail after a short hearing at the Parramatta Bail Court but had to hand over his passport.
He will be back in court on Thursday when his lawyer says they will contest the charge.
