QUEEN guitarist Brian May has hit out at an ‘ageist’ passport official for mocking his greying mop at an airport.
The rock legend, 71, claimed the busybody moaned his hair was black on his passport photo.
He said: “He looked at my passport picture, and then at me, and said: ‘Oh, but the man in this picture has black hair – doesn’t look anything like you.’
“He added a little snigger, as if he was pleased with his powers of observation and wittiness. I said: “It happens to us all – it will even happen to you, if you’re lucky.”
“There’s a serious truth here. We are all massively conscious that we mustn’t behave or speak in ways that are sexist, or racist… but ageism is alive and well.’
May co-founded Queen with lead singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor after previously performed with Roger in the band Smile.

Queen has been estimated to have sold between 170 million to 200 million records, making them one of the world’s best-selling music artists of all time.
In 2017 May – worth £170million – sparked fury by whining about first-class plane seats just days after the Grenfell Tower tragedy.
He said: “I hate it. It costs an arm and a leg to travel this way and I feel we no longer get our money’s worth.”
