SEX shops are inviting randy punters to try out virtual reality porn inside bizarre new smut booths.
The seedy sex sheds booths cost just under £1 per minute to use and are available in 14 cities across Germany.
Built by German firm Virtual Real Pleasure, each booth – about the size of a small bathroom – costs £8,000 to install.
Inside is a high-end virtual reality (VR) headset and an easy-clean faux leather chair to sit on.
Randy customers pick a VR smut flick, which then plays on a TV on the opposite side of the booth.
Booths come with an easy-wipe floor, air conditioning and LED lighting, reports SexTechGuide.
Sex shops installing the booths can even fork out a little extra to add a tissue holder to one of the walls, or a black light for checking hygiene.
Speaking to SexTechGuide, a spokesperson said the booth is big enough to incorporate two people at once.
One user can watch the VR porn, while the other acts out what’s on screen, they said.
Virtual reality involves donning a pair of goggles that simulate computer-generated environments around you.
What is VR? Virtual reality explained
Here's what you need to know about the revolutionary tech...
- Virtual reality allows you to experience and interact with a 3D world that isn’t real.
- To enter this virtual world you must don a VR helmet – a headset with a screen inside that makes you feel like you’re somewhere else.
- This mounted display strapped to your eyes mixed with stereo sound and movement tracking lets you explore this immersive virtual world.
- You turn your head and the environemnt turns with you, making the illusion feel even more “real”.
- Currently headsets span from expensive PC-linked helmets like the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift to more affordable goggles like the Samsung Gear VR that works by slotting a smartphone in the headset.
- The downloadable apps range from VR games to 360-degree videos created by publishers like the BBC and The Discovery Channel.
- They can transport you to 3D worlds that aren’t accessible in real life, like a trip to Mars or a spin behind the wheel of a futuristic sports car.
- Until recently, these experiences relied on a PC or smartphone to generate this virtual world.
- But that all changed with the release of the Oculus Go: a wireless headset with a built-in processor that does all the work itself.
Porn companies use hi-tech camera rigs to film first-person sex films, which can then be viewed on VR headsets – as if the wearer was right there in the scene themselves.
But some smut firms have taken this immersive medium a step further, creating dedicated booths for watching virtual reality smut in peace.
Germany isn’t the only country where VR porn booths are available.
Similar tech has cropped up in Japan, South Korea and the Netherlands.
