A STUNNING picture of a polar bear’s reflection in freezing arctic waters scooped the top prize in a photography competition.
Norwegian snapper Paal Uglefisk captured the image of the beast roaming on the remote Svalbard Islands in the arctic.

Paal, who has been a nature photographer for ten years, took the winning shot while on a boat expedition and picked up $1,000 as prize money.
The picture also highlights the effect of global warming melting the Arctic ice with the polar bear’s natural habitat slowly disappearing.
Paal said that he hoped his work would help people become aware of the need to preserve our landscapes and species.
Paal specialises in wildlife and landscape shots with a particular interest in polar bears and glaciers.
