Mums are turning £3 Ikea spice racks into bookshelves for their children’s bedrooms
OTHER than their incredible meatballs, the things we love most about Ikea are just how affordable and multipurpose their products are.
Well if you’re looking to give your home a revamp without spending a small fortune, then let us guide you in the direction of Ikea’s £3 spice racks which double up as adorable children’s bookshelves.
That’s right, savvy mums have been giving this otherwise average spice rack a new lease of life with a simple slick of paint.
Posting a photo of her son’s new pastel bookshelves on the Facebook group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks, the mum wrote: “Decorating my son’s bedroom and I wanted something for his books.”
Revealing how she turned the spice rack into a book shelf, the woman added: “Painted with a tester paint pot paint – better than a boring white shelf and they stay nice and neat.”
Meanwhile, another mum revealed how three spice racks added a “reading nook” to an otherwise “wasted space” in her little one’s room.

Meanwhile, another mum turned a corner of her son’s room into a beautiful display area with four spice racks.
She wrote: “I did exactly the same! These spice racks are ace for books!”
What’s more, the mum claims the racks are “ideal for odd sized books that look messy stood up on a bookshelf” and keep things neat and upright.
