Woman blasts ‘hideous’ FROG engagement ring her ex-fiance gave her that features ‘iridescent frogspawn’ stone
IT’S the most important piece of jewellery your partner will ever purchase – so it’s only natural that some hopeful grooms like to personalise their fiancee’s engagement ring.
However, one man took this trend to new extremes when he decided to incorporate his partner’s love of FROGS into the design – and needless to say, it’s a bit of an acquired taste.
Posting on the Facebook group That’s It, I’m Ring Shaming, the woman wrote: “[This is] the ring my ex gave me.
“I’m completely in love with frogs and opal is both of our birthstones so that was the reasoning behind it.”
Inviting others to criticise her old engagement ring, the bride added: “Yes, it’s from Etsy.”
Unsurprisingly, other members of the group were quick to pick apart the “hideous” design.
The ring itself features two silver frogs on either side of an opal which was likened to “iridescent frogspawn”.
While one threatened to call animal rights organisation PETA to report “animal abuse”, another said the unusual design looked like “two frogs eating a tick”.
A third wrote: “It’s SO ugly like I can’t even get over it, I’m just in shock.”
Another joked: “Two frogs vomiting at each-other, creating s ethereal pool of glittery nastiness. How romantic.”
Meanwhile, one user wrote: “I love opals but this is hideous.”
“That ring can hop right on into the trash where it belongs,” another replied.
And considering how the couple never did make it down the aisle, it turns out you really do have to kiss a few frogs before you find a prince.
