Jorginho flew into the challenge, bringing both feet off the ground and flying through the air before crunching into his rival.
Many felt the Blues ace would have been sent off in a normal competitive game.
But, as Griezmann lay on the ground receiving treatment, the punishment was just a free-kick.
Fortunately for Barca, their new man was able to continue.
Tuesday’s game was the Catalans’ first outing in pre-season, while Chelsea had already taken part in three friendlies.
On Twitter, onlookers were taken aback by the nature of the tackle given it was a friendly.
One fan tweeted: “Jorginho has killed Griezmann… Lol.”

Twitter user Liam, wrote: “That Jorginho tackle on Griezmann is f****** awful.
“Pre-season is laid back, but we still need to be giving out cards for tackles. No problem with no yellows for things like shirt pulls, but tackles need sanctioning. That’s a red card challenge.”
And another added: “That was a nasty challenge from Jorginho. They both went in sliding, but Jorginho had his studs up and went right at Griezmann.”
