Woman brutally exposes her sister’s ‘staged’ Instagram post after she claimed to go on a hike in their back garden
A WANNABE Instagram star has learnt the hard way about lying online after her sister exposed her fake ‘hiking’ snap, leaving the internet laughing at the blunder.
Casey Sosnowsky, a student from Florida, USA, hoped to gain attention from her followers from the picture – but instead, she found viral fame thanks to her older sibling Carly blowing her cover.
Striking a pose and dressed in sports gear, Casey took to Instagram to share the picture of her on a ‘hike’ at the Lake Okahumpka Park in Sumter County.
The Atlantic University student, dressed in sneakers, pink leggings, a white crop top and a visor as if she was out walking, wrote alongside the snap: “Nature is the ultimate healer to all our problems.”
But Carly took to Twitter to reveal the ‘candid’ shot was actually set up and taken in the family’s back garden by a younger sister, writing: “My sister said she was going hiking… this is our backyard.”
She also shared a picture she had taken of her sister in the yard alongside a grab of the Instagram post, which had gained only 30 likes before sharing it with the masses.
But Carly’s brutal tweet exposing her sibling went down more of a storm, collecting an impressive 275,000 likes and 40,000 retweets in just a matter of days.
Thousands more took to the comment section to praise older sister Carly for calling out Casey, with many more slamming the youngster for her lies.
One woman joked: “Don’t hate the player hate the game,” while another added: “As if she brought a water bottle… people will do anything for likes!”
“You can’t believe anything you see on Instagram,” chimed another. “My friends are always taking hundreds of pictures and then calling the one they posted ‘spontaneous’.”
Others were more focused on the family’s back yard, pointing out how lucky they are to have enough green space at home that they can pretend to be in a forest.
“Your back yard is so giant, you might as well be hiking,” said one, while another agreed: “it looks like you can literally hike in your backyard.”
A number of Twitter users tried to dispel the post as fake, due to Casey changing tops in between the two snaps – but the sister’s quickly shot down the hate, confirming it was real.
But clearly not finding the disproving snap so funny, Casey jokingly replied to her sibling in the comments: “I feel personally attacked.”
Noting she’d been well and truly busted, the Floridian since changed the caption on her Instagram photo to read: “Did I go hiking? No. Is this my backyard?…… Maybe.”
Luckily, the two sisters found themselves both laughing at the situation, as Casey told Insider that she as surprised the busting Tweet became as popular as it did.
“I told my little sister let’s go outside and take pictures by our wooded area because I haven’t posted on Instagram since the beginning of July, so I figured it was about time I posted something,” she explained of the scenario.
“‘I thought the background was really pretty, so we took pictures over there. When I posted it, I told my family, ‘It looks like I was going for a hike’, So then my sister Carly posted it.
